Selma Eduarda Moita da Silva Pereira (1983, Lagos, Portugal) is an artist, researcher, and Assistant Professor working at the intersection of digital media, biographical narratives, and cultural studies. She holds a PhD in Digital Media Art (University of Algarve and Universidade Aberta, 2018) and is an integrated researcher at CICANT – Centre for Research in Applied Communication, Culture, and New Technologies.
Her research focuses on (auto)biographical narratives, digital storytelling, cultural diversity, and post-digital aesthetics, with particular emphasis on the integration of audiovisual media, textile practices, and digital technologies as devices for memory, identity construction, and intercultural mediation. She is currently developing research on digital narrative cartography as a transdisciplinary methodological framework for analysing cultural identity and perceived belonging in Lusophone contexts.
She has an established record of publications in peer-reviewed international journals and conference proceedings and regularly presents her work in international academic contexts. Her artistic practice has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including in Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States (California), Italy, Germany, Japan, and South Korea, exploring the convergence between digital media, textile art, and expanded artistic practices.
Her work operates within the expanded field of media art, combining theoretical research and research-creation approaches, addressing themes such as post-digital aesthetics, materiality and rematerialisation, cultural heritage, and technological mediation.
