- In this curricular unit, the Team-based learning (TBL) methodology is used, with tasks carried out in small groups, allowing the development of the ability to analyze and apply theoretical concepts.
- Mandatory
- The aims of the curricular unit Biophysics are to introduce and develop basic concepts of physics and application of these to the operation of organs and systems of living organisms. It's intended to acquire knowledge in various fields of physics such as energy, nuclear structure, electricity and biopotentials, magnetism, matter properties, thermal kinetics, heat and temperature, fluid dynamics, special relativity, and allow stronger knowledge and learn about biophysical bases of the human body and also the physical mechanisms that underlie some technical analysis and diagnosis. In the end, the student should be able to identify situations of interdisciplinary with other scientific and technological areas such as physiology and new diagnostic techniques and apply the acquired concepts, interpret and solve situations related to the profession.

A componente escrita consta de duas frequências escritas e é relativa aos conteúdos teóricos e práticos. A classificação mínima em cada frequência é de 10 valores. A classificação final é calculada a partir da seguinte fórmula: CF = 0,50 T + 0,50 PL. A classificação de todos os instrumentos de avaliação é expressa numa escala de 0 a 20 valores, sendo que o valor ponderado das classificações obtidas em cada componente tem de ser igual ou superior a 9,5 valores, para efeitos de cálculo da classificação final.

Its application to living organisms - Biophysics -, along with knowledge of Biology, allows for the establishment of a theoretical and practical knowledge basis, essential to the scientific component that supports the emergence and the application of Acupuncture as a therapy.
