- In practical classes, the student has prior access to the experimental protocols to be carried out in each class session, which allows for prior reading and preparation. These protocols are accompanied by a set of questions, to ensure individual preparation and, subsequently, the discussion of procedures and results.
- Mandatory
- Students should: 1) Understand the bone marrow microenvironment and the molecular mechanisms of haematological oncogenesis, including signalling pathways and epigenetics. 2) Relate genetic alterations to classification, prognosis and targeted therapies. 3) Characterise myeloid, lymphoid and plasma-cell neoplasms. 4) Integrate full blood count findings with peripheral blood and bone marrow morphology. 5) Explain the principles of flow cytometry and interpret immunophenotypic profiles. 6) Integrate morphological, immunophenotypic, cytogenetic and molecular data in the diagnostic assessment of haematological neoplasms. 7) Distinguish reactive from clonal alterations in leucocyte and platelet lineages. 8) Morphologically identify the main haemoparasites. 9) Recognise the pathophysiological and laboratory foundations of haemostasis, with an introductory approach to von Willebrand disease and haemophilias.

A aprovação nesta componente exige T ≥ 9,5 valores.
A classificação final corresponde a CF = 0,50 T + 0,50 P.
- Semestral
- Hematology studies how blood cells under normal and abnormal conditions. Students will be instructed in the theory and application of hematology procedures, including quality control, quality assurance, safety, manual and / or automatic methods, as well as normal and altered blood cell maturation sequences and morphology with appropriate practice associated disease.
