  • Criminal law is fundamental in the training of all jurists. The most common academic path in Portuguese Universities is followed here: Criminal Law I covers the introduction to criminal law, the theory of criminal law and starts the study of the general theory of crime. Criminal Law II continues the study of the general theory of crime.

  • The Criminal Law I curricular unit aims to lay the foundations for a critical and solid work with criminal law (constitutional, dogmatic, political-criminal and interdisciplinary foundations), which will allow the adequate resolution of practical cases. Criminal Law I begins the treatment of the theory of crime, up to the actus reus (the remaining matters of the theory of crime are covered in Criminal Law II).

  • Learning is based on concrete problems, for which a balanced and well grounded solution is required, including the fact that the search for such solution involves aspects of legal methodology and legal research.
