- In this curricular unit, the Team-based learning (TBL) methodology is used, with tasks carried out in small groups, allowing the development of the ability to analyze and apply theoretical concepts.

- Acquire knowledge of the Clinical Pathology in the fields of Biochemistry, Hematology and Microbiology. Acquire knowledge about diseases, its pathogenesis and clinical outcome. Knowing how to define reference values. Evaluate the results of laboratory tests that contribute to the diagnosis of health or disease. Relate analytical results and propose hypotheses of diagnosis.

A componente escrita consta de duas frequências escritas e é relativa aos conteúdos teóricos. A classificação mínima em cada frequência é de 8 valores. A componente teórico-prática consta duas frequências realizadas durante as aulas. A classificação mínima em cada frequência teórico-prática é de 8 valores. A classificação final é calculada a partir da seguinte fórmula: CF = 0,50 T + 0,50 TP. A classificação de todos os instrumentos de avaliação é expressa numa escala de 0 a 20 valores, sendo que o valor ponderado das classificações obtidas em cada componente tem de ser igual ou superior a 9,5 valores, para efeitos de cálculo da classificação final.

- The Clinical Pathology curricular unit most often uses laboratory tests of body fluids, such as blood and urine, compared to the pathological anatomy, which uses tissue examination. Students will have the opportunity to understand the four major disciplines in Clinical Pathology: Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank / Transfusion Medicine and Microbiology. Additionally they will have the opportunity to address the area of immunology. In all these areas, students will be encouraged to participate in various formative dynamics, such as discussion of clinical cases. In the end, the student should be familiar with the proper use and interpretation of laboratory tests, the role of the clinical and public health technician, as well as recognize current technology and state-of-the-art equipment used in laboratory tests.
