- The role of the osteopath in sport assuming a job with athletes of all ages and abilities, professional and amateur, both in a perspective of prevention of injuries as the functional improvement, it is necessary to develop and deepen scientific and technical knowledge to enable it to an intervention practice based on evidence. The proposed training covers the following competencies: Prevention of sports injurie; Osteopathy of intervention in sport; Understanding the specific needs of athletes; Train the differential diagnosis in the evaluation process; Accurately interprets the test results in osteopathic evaluation process; Master the knowledge that justify the selection and application of each technique.
- 1 Approach of osteopathic concepts by sport. 1.1 Osteopathic reasoning in sport - biomechanical factors, pathophysiology, differential diagnosis and treatment protocol: Osteopathic basin approach Back pain and sciatica; Thoracic back pain; Neck pain and cervical radiculopathy. 1.2 Most common pathologies in sport: Upper Limb-biomechanical factors, pathophysiology and treatment protocol: rotator cuff; Epicondylitis and golfer's elbow, or medial epicondylitis; carpal tunnel syndrome; tendinopathy of the upper limb; dysfunctions and acute/chronic injuries of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand including tendinopathy, myofascial injuries and repetitive strain injurie. Lower Limb-biomechanics, pathophysiology and treatment protocol: sprain of the hock; foot injuries; acute and chronic injuries of the menisci: differential diagnosis; Pubalgy; dysfunctions and acute/chronic injuries of the thigh, knee, ankle and foot, including tendinopathy, myofascial injuries and repetitive strain injurie.

A classificação final (CF) da unidade curricular por avaliação contínua é obtida a partir das classificações adquiridas na componente escrita (T) e na componente prática (PL). A componente Teórica consta de duas frequências escritas e é relativa aos conteúdos teóricos. A classificação mínima em cada frequência é de 9,5 valores. A componente prática consta de dois momentos de avaliação práticos realizados durante as aulas laboratoriais. A classificação mínima de cada momento é de 9,5 valores. A classificação final é calculada a partir da seguinte fórmula: CF = 0,50 T + 0,50 PL. A classificação de todos os instrumentos de avaliação é expressa numa escala de 0 a 20 valores, sendo que o valor ponderado das classificações obtidas tem de ser igual ou superior a 9,5 valores.
