  • Description of contents The photographic image - concepts and phases from capture to reproduction: Optical machines and their applications in drawing. Historical examples. Analog capture - film and paper capture + analog laboratory - light and chemical interference. Historical examples. Digital capture - digital capture potential (camera and scanner) + use of digital image processors. The printed image - plastic material; printing, cutting and pasting. Examples.   Studio photography Learning the basics of cameras, lighting, reflectors, movement, indoor and outdoor photography, and photo editing. Development of illustrations through photography as a response to challenges.
  • It is intended that students develop individual skills in order to be able to conceive, plan and execute works in the illustration area, using photography or strategies derived from the photographic universe. To this end, they should be familiar with the photography practice and its plastic possibilities, being introduced to a range of different approaches to illustration developed by different artists and photographers, seeking to understand what is behind the images produced.

  • This subject aims to encourage and support students in developing work through three different methodologies: 1) Theoretical-practical classes in which different image production strategies will be presented, analyzed and discussed; performing exercises; 2) Tutoring to guide students in the design and planning of their projects; individualized support for projects under development; 3) Group critiques in which students will have the opportunity to share, compare and discuss their options together with other students and teachers. During the continuous assessment period, students are supported in the conceptual and practical development of practical exercises and a subsequent digital portfolio. Continuous assessment (75% mandatory): Attendance, participation in classes = 20% Practical exercises = 70% (total) Final Subject Portfolio = 10% Exam: Theoretical work = 20% Practical exercises for the semester = 70% Final Subject Portfolio = 10%
