  • This curricular unit aims to provide its participants with knowledge and tools that enable them to identify preventive techniques and their importance for the prevention of accidents and occupational diseases, as well as modern and effective human resources management

  • A avaliação curricular e/ou a avaliação final consiste na elaboração, apresentação e defesa de um trabalho de estudo de caso com a resolução de um conjunto de problemas (40%) e uma frequência (60%). Todos os momentos de avaliação são de carácter teórico e prático.


    As datas e momentos de avaliação são disponibilizadas na Plataforma Moodle.

  • 1. Introduction to Occupational Health, Safety and Hygiene - General concepts; Prevention of occupational risks; Practical applications 2. Occupational Biomechanics - Postures adopted during work; Static and dynamic work - Application of forces and transmission of movements - Repetitive tasks - Manual lifting and transport of loads 3. Effects on the Human Body - Musculoskeletal injuries 4. Approach to the Workplace - Main concerns - Adaptation of working conditions to the Human Being. 5. Working with Display Screens - Causes of discomfort - Prevention and protection measures - Good practices to adopt - Applicable legislation 6. Environmental Factors of Discomfort - Thermal Environment - Noise - Lighting - Air Quality 7. Organizational Factors Associated with Work - Adaptation to work - Occupational Stress - Fatigue - Monotony - Night Work 8. Legislation and obligations regarding health, hygiene and safety at work.
  • The objectives of the course are: - To understand the historical, political and social context of work within which the occupational health and safety function emerged. - To identify the key moments in the history of occupational health and safety within the European Union and in Portugal; - To identify preventive techniques. - To recognise the importance of occupational medicine. - To raise awareness among trainees of the importance of preventing and controlling occupational risks that may exist in the workplace, as well as of the environmental and organisational factors that affect the development of their work. - To characterise the current legal framework for occupational health and safety and the organisation of prevention and protection services in organisations.

  • The teaching methodologies are based on interrogative and active methods aimed at the discussion and resolution of theoretical and practical exercises in the classroom context, completed with the presentation of theoretical content. The teacher provides case studies and practical application exercises that require the resolution of problems commonly faced by qualified professionals in the field of study, as well as other materials through the content management platform (Moodle).

  • 1. Global communication.  2. The English language in socio-professional daily life.  3. The English language and new technologies.  4. Oral communication and written communication in English.   4.1 The formal (phonological, syntactic and semantic) aspects of the English language system.   4.2 Grammar: verb tenses; if-clauses.   4.3 Interpretation and text production.   4.4 Planning and development of individual projects in English; written and oral presentation of these projects.
  • O1. Promote the development of oral and written skills. O2. Mobilize previously acquired linguistic knowledge and apply it in new learning situations. O3. Provide the improvement of the English language, adapting it to the socio-professional context. O4. Use the English language as a work and communication tool. O5. Improve the interpretation of scientific and technological matters. Skills and competencies: C1. Develop autonomy in communication, promoting oral and written expression, as well as mastery of grammatical rules and vocabulary. C2. Be able to apply previous linguistic knowledge to new contexts, adapting what has been learned to varied communication situations. C3. Know and practice vocabulary and technical terms related to your area of ¿¿work. C4. Actively apply the English language in work tasks and situations, as a means of communication.

  • 1. Theoretical/practical classes: presentation of concepts; discussion of program contents; textual interpretation; resolution of grammatical and lexical exercises using digital tools (RED). 2. Practical classes: conversation situations; simulation of real situations, discussion of topics; brainstorming; researching information and presentating/discussing it, using digital tools (IA); solving exercises either in an intranet environment or using paper support. Autonomous: 3. Flipped classroom dynamics with information research for application in the classroom context. 4. Consolidation of the content taught in class by researching of additional information and solving exercises on different themes and contents.

  • The teaching approach adopted is based on the active method, encouraging co-operative (peer) and creative learning. Face-to-face: 1. theoretical-practical teaching: Presentation of concepts and discussion of programme contents. 2. Laboratory practice: Completion of worksheets to analyse and interpret the results obtained; Critical analysis of case studies related to the subject area of the course. 3. Simulated practice: Scenarios and situations that allow students to explore real-world situations related to the subject area of the course, applying the fundamental maths concepts exposed and developing critical thinking. Autonomous: 4. Consolidation of the content taught in class by researching additional information on the different topics covered and developing additional work related to solving concrete problems and group dynamics.
