- Teaching and Learning Methodologies M1. Theoretical-practical classes involving the presentation and discussion of fundamental project management concepts, complemented by practical exercises to reinforce learning. M2. Problem-Based Learning (PBL) through practical assignments, case study analysis, and the flipped classroom approach, promoting knowledge application, critical reflection, and evaluation. M3. Independent learning focused on consolidating knowledge through additional research, deeper exploration of course topics, and the completion of activities and assignments proposed by the lecturers.

- The learning objectives of this course unit are as follows: O1. Understand the fundamental concepts and the project life cycle. O2. Identify the main project management knowledge areas based on internationally recognised best practices. O3. Identify project planning, monitoring, and control techniques. O4. Understand project management tools used for schedule development and management. O5. Understand project management methodologies and best practices. O6. Understand the importance of aligning projects with the strategic objectives of organisations.
- Course Content 1. Introduction to Project Management 1.1 Definition and fundamental project concepts. 1.2 Differences between projects, operations, and processes. 2. Project Life Cycle 2.1 Project life cycle phases. 2.2 Essential project documents (Project Charter, Business Case, Progress Reports, Final Report). 3. Project Management Knowledge Areas 3.1 The ten project management knowledge areas. 4. Introduction to Project Management Tools 4.1 Project management software and applications.

A avaliação curricular será concretizada com recursos aos seguintes elementos:
- A1. Trabalho prático. Inclui componente de aplicação, relatório escrito e apresentação/discussão em aula.
- A2. Teste final teórico/prático (individual).
A classificação final é calculada através da fórmula Classificação Final = A1*0,6+A2*0,4. O estudante é aprovado se a classificação final for igual ou superior a 9,5 valores em 20.
A classificação mínima na avaliação curricular (continua) a aplicar é a seguinte:
- Trabalho prático: 10 valores.
- Teste final teórico-prático (individual): 8 valores
A avaliação dos trabalhos práticos, inclui a avaliação individual dos estudantes que terá uma ponderação de 40% na classificação do estudante nessa componente.

- Fundamentals of Project Management introduces the essential concepts, principles, methodologies, and tools of project management, providing students with a structured understanding of the project life cycle and its organisational context. The course covers the main project management knowledge areas, fundamental planning, monitoring and control techniques, as well as the key project documents that support decision-making throughout the project lifecycle. Through the analysis of practical case studies and the use of project management support tools, students develop foundational competencies to plan, monitor and communicate projects across different organisational environments.
