  • Provision of diverse study material in digital support, such as slides and exercises. Use of software for data analysis. Use of microcontrollers (Arduino) to promote the initiation of automation processes in measurements.

  • The main objective of the course is to transmit to students the basic concepts of telecommunications as well as to present the main applications and components of the systems. One intends to: - Introduce the notions of signals in time and their spectrum, to address the problems of communication channels. - Introduce the types of antennas, and their applications in elementary analog modulation systems, in order for the student to understand the characteristics and fundamental differences between them. - Present the elementary notions of digital transmission such as quantization, and source coding, as well as examples of the most used digital modulations, training the student for the different characteristics of these systems. - Finally, acquire elementary knowledge about guided transmission systems, such as copper pairs, coaxial cables from the perspective of their fundamental components

Digital Broadcasting • Notions of sampling and quantization • Source coding (information, entropy, Huffmann coding) • Applications with digital modulations (bandpass): ASK, FSK, PSK, QAM   5. Guided transmission systems • Applications of Copper / Coaxial Cables (copper pairs, coaxial cable) • Fiber Optic Applications (elementary notions, fiber types, attenuation, dispersion, types of fiber, cables and connectors, OTDR, fiber optic links)

  • This course, in the area of Telecommunications, is where students come across, for the first time, with the fundamental concepts of communication theory and its applications in analog and digital communication. It introduces elementary notions of spectrum and bandwidth to allow the analysis of the various types of communications systems. It also addresses applications of analog and digital modulations, as well as guided transmission systems.

  • In practical classes, the student has prior access to the experimental protocols to be carried out in each class session, which allows for prior reading and preparation. These protocols are accompanied by a set of questions, to ensure individual preparation and, subsequently, the discussion of procedures and results.

  • Know the histological techniques of preparing tissue for observation under the light microscope. Describe how the fasteners stop the postmortem changes; properties of an ideal fixer; Identify the advantages and disadvantages of different types of fasteners in view of its chemical properties; Describe the reason why the tissues need physical support for the histological section; Describe how to carry out the preparation of mineralized tissues; Describe the procedures for performing the inclusion in paraffin tissue blocks, main rules and resolution problems. Describe the procedures performed to perform histological sections, main rules, types of artifacts in histological sections and problem solving.

    A classificação final (CF) da unidade curricular por avaliação contínua é obtida a partir das classificações obtidas na componente escrita (T) e na componente prática (PL). A componente escrita consta de duas frequências escritas e é relativa aos conteúdos teóricos. A classificação mínima é de 9,5 valores. A componente prática consta de 2 momentos de avaliação práticos realizados durante as aulas. A classificação mínima em cada frequência prática é de 9,5 valores. A classificação final é calculada a partir da seguinte fórmula: CF = 0,50 T + 0,50 PL. A classificação de todos os instrumentos de avaliação é expressa numa escala de 0 a 20 valores, sendo que o valor ponderado das classificações obtidas em cada componente, tem de ser igual ou superior a 9,5 valores.

  • In this curricular unit on histological techniques, the methodology for obtaining tissue sections thin enough to allow light or an electron beam to pass through, allowing the structure of cells / tissues and organelles, respectively, will be explained. Class planning is structured according to the different intrinsic stages of sample preparation, from reception, fixation, processing (dehydration, diaphanization and impregnation) and microtomy. Instruments for manipulating samples, techniques and protocols will be presented in detail. Although this technique is universally applicable, it does not work well in hard tissues such as bones, so the descaling technique will still be addressed.

  • The syllabus is conveyed through a blend of expository and active pedagogical strategies. Classes commence with audiovisual presentations and PowerPoint slides, designed to introduce new concepts, tools, and techniques, ranging from basic navigation in a 3D environment to more complex aspects such as texturing and rendering. Each theoretical topic is followed by the completion of practical exercises and small projects. The structuring of these exercises is devised in such a way that students apply the acquired knowledge immediately. Continuous monitoring of student performance allows for the provision of individual guidance and constructive feedback throughout the semester. Additional support is offered through the Moodle platform, featuring an assortment of supplementary resources.

  • This course aims to introduce students to the technical domain of Blender 3D software, equipping them with essential knowledge and skills to initiate, refine, and engage in professional practice in the development of three-dimensional projects. The objective is for students to be capable of formulating creative projects through three-dimensional representation, representing objects in 3D, applying technical terminology, utilizing 3D modeling tools, and adopting work methodologies appropriate for various fields of three-dimensional intervention. Furthermore, the course aspires to promote the development and exploration of specific skills in areas such as modeling, material manipulation, lighting, texturing, and rendering in three-dimensional environments.
  • - Blender 3D: Software 3D interface, User Preferences, Workspace. - Modeling: Mesh and 3D Curves, 3D Objects in Blender, Controller Menu, Modifiers, Create and Edit Mesh, Object Mode, Edit Mode, and Sculpting Mode, Object Data Properties. - Modeling with a modelsheet. - typographic illustration. - Materials and Textures: Material Editor, Asset Browser, UV Mapping, Compositing, and Texture Paint. - Lighting: Light, Lighting with Planes, World Properties. - Cameras: Camera to View, Align Camera, Camera Properties. - Animation: Timeline, Key Frame, Graph Editor.
