Its objective is to approach the topics of passive and active safety, within the scope of study progression in the area of SB. This curricular unit addresses cross-cutting topics related to the safety of people and buildings, such as: organization of security; firefighting systems; evacuation paths; means of early warning and detection. The topics covered provide general knowledge of the implementation of self-protection measures.

- On completion of this course, students should be able to: ¿ Understand the operating principles of sensors and transducers, distinguishing between passive, active and digital sensors .¿ Identify and implement signal conditioning circuits, including instrumentation amplifiers, analog filters and sampling and retention circuits. ¿ Explain the operation and characteristics of analogue-to-digital (A/D) and digital-to-analogue (D/A) converters, recognizing different architectures and applications. ¿ Apply the Nyquist sampling theorem and evaluate parameters such as linearity and error in conversion systems. ¿ Design and assemble signal acquisition chains, integrating sensors, conditioning and conversion.

- The methodologies that support the teaching-learning process of this Curricular Unit (CU) consist of methodologies of expository, demonstrative, participatory nature and resolution of practical cases and clinical case studies. Theoretical classes will be taught using the projection of power points and the viewing of illustrative videos of the syllabus covered. The practical classes will take place using Team-based learning (TBL) with the realization of tasks in small groups or individually - visualization of representative images of the various cytological entities; observation, resolution and discussion of case studies and clinical slides with the realization of the respective cytological report, according to the Bethesda System. During the classes, students will be asked questions to develop critical thinking and the application of theoretical concepts, followed by discussion of cytopathological results and diagnoses.

- Apply a technical-scientific language in written and oral communication. To learn the basic concepts of cervico-vaginal sample collection and processing. Identify microscopically normal cytological elements of cervical smears. Identify and characterize microscopically cellular changes associated with menstrual cycle, pregnancy and reactive changes induced by inflammation, microorganisms and others and squamous and glandular epithelial cell abnormalities. Apply the criteria of benign, atypical and malignat cellular morphology to classify microscopically the cervico-vaginal exfoliative cytology samples and prepare the cytological report in accordance with the International Naming Classification - Bethesda System. Develop critical thinking and argumentation skills with the aim of interpreting cases, making differential diagnoses and clarifying diagnostic hypotheses. Understand your role as a cytotechnician towards the patient and the samples.
- The origin and principles of Cytology as a diagnostic tool. Basic notions about normal cell and its constituents. Brief approach to the collection, fixation, processing and routine staining of Gynecological Exfoliative Cytology samples. Female Reproductive System (Anatomy, Histology and Cytology). Normal cellular elements of cervico-vaginal smears. Hormonal cytology (menstrual cycle, pregnancy and menopause). Gynecological Cytology Classification Systems - Bethesda System. Criteria for adequacy of conventional cervico-vaginal sample or in liquid medium. Negative cytology for intraepithelial lesion or malignant neoplasm (NILM). Human Papiloma virus (HPV) and cervical cancer. Squamous epithelial cell abnormalities. Glandular epithelial cell abnormalities. Cervical Cancer - Prevention, Screening and Vaccination. Cytopathology of the anal canal.
A Unidade Curricular (UC) de Citopatologia I pode ser realizada através de avaliação contínua ou por avaliação final. A avaliação contínua da UC consta de 4 frequências escritas, relativas às componente teórica (T) e teórico - prática (TP) e de um trabalho de grupo (TG).
A componente teórica consta de 2 frequências escritas e é relativa aos conteúdos teóricos, sendo a classificação mínima em cada frequência teórica de 8 valores. A componente teórico - prática consta de 2 frequências de avaliação práticas, sendo a classificação mínima em cada frequência teórico - prática de 9,5 valores.
A classificação final (CF) da UC por avaliação contínua é o resultado das classificações obtidas na componente teórica (T), na componente teórico - prática (TP) e no trabalho de grupo (TG) e é calculada a partir da seguinte fórmula: CF = 0,40 T + 0,40 TP + 0,20 (TG). A classificação de todos os instrumentos de avaliação é expressa numa escala de 0 a 20 valores, sendo que o valor ponderado das classificações obtidas em cada componente tem de ser igual ou superior a 9,5 valores, para efeitos de cálculo da classificação final.

- Cytopathology is a fundamental subject in Pathological Anatomy, whose field of action involves the study of sloughed or harvested cells at the level of the surface tissue, with the aim of detecting morphological anomalies at cellular level. This Curricular Unit (CU) is based on the development of theoretical knowledge combined with a solid practical component necessary for the interpretation and cytological diagnosis of gynecological exfoliative cytology samples. The areas of intervention range from research in Pathological Anatomy to work in laboratories, enhancing a better diagnostic quality. The relevance of this curricular unit in the study cycle is evidenced through its capacity to prepare professionals able to process cervical-vaginal samples and perform routine cytopathological diagnoses and within the scope of screening programs, according to the Bethesda International System of Nomenclature for cervico-vaginal cytological samples.

It is intimately qualified with embryology, comparative anatomy, evolutionary biology and phylogeny. Human anatomy is considered one of the essential sciences of health science courses. Anatomy is divided into two areas: macroscopic anatomy and microscopic anatomy. Physiology is the study of the functioning of various organ systems, that is, explains how biomolecules, such as cells, tissues, organs and organ systems. Human physiology attempts to understand the mechanical, physical and biochemical mechanisms that keep the human body alive.
