- The teaching methodologies are based on two aspects, namely: Theoretical-practical classes: Interactive method, using a board and pen and computer/internet/projector, interspersed with situations of dialogue with students aimed at developing solutions, critical thinking and the ability to formulate concepts. Practical classes: Complementing the guidelines given in the initial classes, while students try to solve problems on their own, discussion of possible solutions, presentation of a final solution. Most classes in electronics lab. The assessment comprises: pre-project, presentation and a complementary opportunity to correct errors under guardianship, with limited improvement in grades.

- In this curriculart unit, the methodology of staining histological sections and obtaining histological sections by freezing will be explained. Although the techniques addressed in the curricular unit of Histotechnology I (fixation, microtomy¿) have remained reassuringly constant, there have been great advances in immunological methodology, molecular and digital diagnostics. The progressive development of molecular techniques over the past 20 years, revolving around DNA and in situ hybridization, has led to the creation of new genetic testing and diagnostic opportunities for the laboratory. Digital pathology, in particular, is the new frontier, and quality control is critical to modern and relevant histotechnology.

- The syllabus will always be developed in practical exercises, progressing from simple situations to more complex practices. An attitude of permanent experimentation is favored during classes, using the materials and techniques proposed by the teacher. All work is preceded by explanatory introductions using practical demonstrations, books and audiovisual media.

- To provide knowledge of the history and specificities of manual and digital printing techniques; To develop, through practical work, printing techniques in stencil, stamping and linocut. To know the specific terminology of the techniques introduced (processes, instruments, materials, concepts); To promote experimentation and discovery in the printing processes introduced, through the artistic exercise of composition, color, multilayers. Experiment with different media and real notions of applicability.
- Study and application of printmaking, stamping, and printing techniques. Analysis of graphic representation strategies in drawing, with a focus on their reproduction through stamping, linocut and printing processes. 1. Introduction to Printmaking and Stamping . Construction of stamps and development of block printing exercises; . Exploration of relief printing techniques, including collagraphy (additive processes) and linocut (subtractive processes); . Study of processes, materials, tools, and technical terminology; . Development of drawings and planning of graphic work; . Printing processes and graphic experimentation. 2. Introduction to Printing . Introduction to printing through the use of cardboard or plastic masks (stencil techniques); . Study of materials and techniques; . Development of drawings for printing matrices; . Printing processes and finishing techniques. 3. Design and production of a graphic object using the techniques learned.
A nota final expressa critérios de assiduidade e pontualidade, bem como de cumprimento dos objetivos da disciplina. A avaliação processa-se de três formas: contínua (comparência obrigatória a 75% das aulas); intermédia, qualitativa, incidindo sobre todo o trabalho desenvolvido em aula e final; quantitativa, incidindo sobre os exercícios. Para cada, há avaliação de diagnóstico, crítica e autocrítica na análise dos resultados. A avaliação final resulta da apreciação do trabalho desenvolvido em aula e resposta aos exercícios propostos.

- he Biology component of this course unit deals with the structure and functioning of the cell. Fundamental knowledge on the storage, transmission and use of genetic information in eukaryotic and prokaryotic organisms is transmitted. Cell cycle and gene expression control and related themes such as cancer and apoptosis are also focused. The biochemistry component discusses the concepts of the structure and function of biomolecules and the metabolic pathways in which they are involved. Enzyme functioning and bioenergetics are also focused. Through laboratory practice, the student will perform not only cell biology techniques, but biochemistry techniques such as spectrophotometry that are the basis of various analytical methods. Through practical cases will be developed the ability to analyze, interpret knowledge and facts with application in problem solving.
