- In this curricular unit, the Team-based learning (TBL) methodology is used, with tasks carried out in small groups, allowing the development of the ability to analyze and apply theoretical concepts. In practical classes, the student has prior access to the experimental protocols to be carried out in each class session, which allows for prior reading and preparation. These protocols are accompanied by a set of questions, to ensure individual preparation and, subsequently, the discussion of procedures and results.

- The curricular unit intend for the student to master the basic concepts and terminology used in Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy. They should understand the importance of inter-individual variability in pharmacological effect, therapeutic regimens and potential toxicological impacts. They will use bibliographic sources to gather practical information on the safety profile of medicines and recognize the principles of Pharmacovigilance, detecting the occurrence of Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) and carrying out the respective communication. They should acquire practical skills in the preparation of medicines and their administration through different routes, including nursing care, access routes, puncture techniques, etc. They should also be capable of interpreting the therapeutic goals, proposing monitoring and teaching plans for the patient, thus enhancing adherence to therapy, minimizing the risk of therapeutic errors.
- Theoretical Component: Basics of Pharmacology: Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics, Routes of Administration, Adverse Reactions and Pharmacovigilance. Special groups (pediatrics, obstetrics). Pharmacological therapy of: 1. Cardiovascular System; 2. Infectious Diseases; 3. Gastrointestinal System; 4. Respiratory System; 5. Musculoskeletal System; 6. Contraception and Menopause. Practical Component: Safety, dilutions, drug administration routes and regimens; Sources of information on medicinal products for clinical use; Study of practical clinical cases with application of theoretical concepts. Laboratorial Component: Nursing care and mannequin practices related to medication preparation and parenteral therapy administration techniques. IM/SC/IV therapy administration; preparation and intervention in serum therapy and maintenance of accesses; Venipuncture technique: placement and maintenance of peripheral venous catheter, blood collection and drug administration.

Para obter sucesso académico na Unidade Curricular em regime da avaliação contínua, o estudante tem de estar presente e participar em todos os momentos de avaliação estipulados e em pelo menos 2/3 das aulas laboratoriais. Nesses momentos de avaliação, o estudante deverá ter uma nota mínima, em cada momento, não inferior a 8,0 valores, caso contrário só poderá concluir a Unidade Curricular através de Exame. A nota final de avaliação contínua deverá ser igual ou superior a 9,5 valores no somatório dos componentes.
A não aprovação no somatório da componente Teórica e Teórico-prática implica a realização de exame de recurso teórico, o qual passará a constituir a nota final. A não aprovação no componente Laboratorial implicará a realização de exame de recurso prático, o que passará a constituir a nota final. A não aprovação em ambos o componente implicará a realização de exame teórico e prático, passando a nota a ser calculada com a valorização de 60% sobre o exame teórico e 40% sobre o exame prático. Na avaliação sumativa (exames de recurso e época especial), para obtenção de aprovação, a classificação final deverá ser igual ou superior a 9,5 valores.

- The curricular unit (UC) intends to train students with knowledge of Pharmacology that allows laying the foundations for the rational use and administration of medication, consolidating the relevance of the CU in the intervention of nurses. Concepts of Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics will be discussed, applied to different pharmacological groups. The student should relate the theoretical knowledge of Pharmacology with the adequacy of the drug to the patient's clinical profile, route and administration regimen. You should recognize the occurrence of adverse reactions by taking appropriate Pharmacovigilance measures. At the UC, the student has contact with the practice of drug preparation and administration, as well as nursing care prior to their administration, promoting the safe use of the drug.
