Provide students with basic training in the area of Manufacturing Processes and Materials Technology, enabling them to integrate theoretical knowledge directly or indirectly related to the subjects taught.  O2. To familiarize students with the equipment, materials, and processes used in manufacturing and the main risks associated with them.  O3. To foster students' ability to select and interpret relevant information through coursework and their communication and argumentation skills through the presentation and discussion of said coursework.
  • 1. Introduction to manufacturing processes and the most important components of management in productive environments (quality management, environmental management, safety management and occupational health, energy management, maintenance management), Statistical Process Control (SPC). 2. Transformation processes of metallic materials 2.1. Mechanical processing of metallic materials (cutting, bending, forming, machining); 1 Thermal processes (autogenous welding and brazing, thermal cutting); 2 Transformation processes of polymeric materials, ceramics and glass. 3 Production processes of chemicals. 4 Production processes in manufacturing of wood. 5 Lines and assembly processes.
  • Avaliação contínua (a realizar no decorrer do semestre) que consiste:
    - Exercícios em aula (portfólio) (70%)
    - Teste individual (30%).

  • The course introduces manufacturing processes and materials technologies (metals, polymers, ceramics, composites), relating material selection, performance, and safety, and enabling the Occupational Safety Engineer to analyze processes, identify hazards, assess risks, and propose preventive measures in an industrial context.
