A avaliação curricular será concretizada através de um teste escrito (40%) e um trabalho de grupo prático com apresentaçãoem aula (60%).

- The course presents the fundamental concepts of economics, explains their application to economic problems (such as individual decisions and market functioning), and develops an understanding of the usefulness of economic models in understanding reality, enabling students to adopt structured thinking when faced with economic situations and problems.

Laboratory practice: based on the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) methodology, aiming to find solutions to problems identified by students or proposed by the teacher. Independent: 3. Guided research proposed by the teacher, aiming to consolidate the topics under study and providing input for the practical work developed by students.

- O1. Develop students' reasoning skills; O2. Provide the basic fundamentals of quantitative methods, usually applied in the areas of economics and management; O3. Equip students with knowledge regarding the selection of methods and processes that are best suited to solving a specific problem; O4. Correctly use mathematical language in the development of calculation techniques that enable students to create or deepen knowledge essential to continuing their studies in subsequent years. At the end of the course, students should be able to: C1. Master the fundamental concepts related to infinitesimal analysis. C2. Identify the different types of equations, inequalities, and real functions of real variables. C3. Predict and characterize the functions to be used in practical applications. C4. Apply calculation techniques in different situations.

Avaliação curricular composta por dois testes escritos, com ponderação de 50% em cada um.
A classificação final corresponde à média aritmética dos dois testes de avaliação e para aprovação à Unidade Curricular, a mesma terá de ser igual ou superior a 9,5 valores.
A avaliação final será concretizada através de exame (100%).

- The course develops students' reasoning skills and provides the fundamentals of quantitative methods applied in economics and management, equipping them with the knowledge to select appropriate methods for problem solving and correctly use mathematical language, in order to master concepts of infinitesimal analysis, identify functions, equations, and inequalities, and apply calculation techniques in practical contexts.
