  • The teaching methodology consists of presenting and discussing topics and, whenever possible, introducing existing technologies through practical examples of applications that demonstrate the concepts involved. At the end of each topic, challenging exercises are proposed for students to find solutions, thereby consolidating their learning.
  • Optional
  • Provide a comprehensive approach to the algorithms, protocols and fundamentals of modern distributed systems. Characterize and discuss the advantages, problems and challenges that arise in the development of distributed systems.  At the end of the curricular unit students should be able to: Use communication mechanisms and interaction of distributed objects and services, identifying similarities and differences related to object-oriented programming mechanisms in a centralized environment. Connect knowledge on fundamental techniques for the design of distributed applications in the business environment and for the Internet. Apply the knowledge acquired in autonomous learning and competence and apply this knowledge in practice

  • Avaliação contínua:

    • Trabalho prático (Relatório e projeto); 60%;
    • Teste final teórico-prático; 40%;

    Avaliação final:

    Todos os estudantes que não tenham concluído com sucesso a avaliação contínua podem realizar um exame final teórico-prático (100%) na época de avaliação definida pela instituição.

  • Semestral
  • The Distributed Systems course focuses on fundamental concepts of distributed systems, including coordination algorithms, communication protocols, and resource management in scalable environments. This course prepares students for real-world challenges in cloud computing and modern networks.

  • The objectives of the course unit are: Describe the importance of the need for integration. Differentiate between current types of integration. Explain the implications of systems integration in organizations. Plan the integration of systems in an organization. Identify the main technologies and levels of integration. Recognize international systems integration standards. Recognize and apply the main languages that support systems integration. Integrate different information systems. Apply systems integration concepts in a practical case. Identify the different types of systems integration tools. Analyze systems integration between companies. Use open-source systems integration tools. Use proprietary systems integration tools.
