  • The approach will be made to teach subjects in a simple way where the student role will primarily forward and express their shortcomings, both in what concerns the field of materials, both in its correct interpretation and use. The pedagogical approach of content is done in three phases properly monitored: interpretation of utterances, solving exercises by the students, individually and collective discussion of the issues that raises the problem solving and expository whenever necessary. Students will be assessed through two Intermediate Tests or through a Global Evaluation Test (the student can choose).

  • The Course Unit (CU) was created with the aim of consolidating and expanding students' mathematical knowledge. Understanding concepts and techniques of differential calculus is the primary objective. Students are expected to master the topics outlined in the syllabus, develop abstraction skills, and intuitively and critically apply what they learn in this CU to their field of study. The goal is to equip students with an awareness of the need for rigor in language use and clarity in presentation, as well as the analytical capacity and autonomy to use mathematical techniques in solving concrete problems in their professional lives. By the end of the course, students should master the techniques of differentiation and integration in IR, model and solve optimization problems, identify convergent series, calculate their values and develop functions in power series, apply integral calculus in IR to problem-solving, and enhance their reflective and computational skills.

    Important Notes:

    • Each student can only choose ONE of the two methods.

    • The evaluation is scaled in 0 to 20 values. In order to pass the Curricular Unit, the student must have a minimum final grade of 9.5 values. 

    • Each Midterm test has a minimum grade of 7.5 values. Failing to achieve that minimum grade on either Test implies failing the evaluation.

    • A student that chooses to take the First Midterm Test forfeits the possibility to take the Global Evaluation Test, and must have the minimum grade of 7.5 values to be eligible to the Second Midterm Test.

    • Attendance as an evaluation element aims to encourage class attendance and will only be considered if the percentage of attendance is greater than or equal to 70%.

    • All students who have not successfully completed the evaluation process can take a Final Exam during the Exam Period defined by the institution, at the end of the semester.

  • The main objective of this course is to equip students with fundamental knowledge in the fields of diferential and integral calculus and logical and mathematical reasoning. The aim is that, through various theoretical and practical strategies, students can apply the knowledge acquired throughout the semester and solidify their Computational Thinking, which is essential for a future in the field of Computer Science

  • Expository and laboratory classes using computer equipment. Carrying out practical work adapted to situations in the course area. Classes will take place in a room prepared with software and computer equipment. They will be taught in a context based on practical projects, with constant demonstrations. Assessment is continuous and the final grade results from assessment by test or project. Students who are unsuccessful will be able to take the exams at the assessment times defined by the institution.
