Problem-Based Learning (PBL): Students learn by solving authentic problems. They identify problems, conduct research and collaborate to find solutions, which promotes a deeper understanding of the content. 3. The perception of the framework for approaching an Information System is essential for students to perceive the need for this area in the labor market. It is intended to address the methods, processes and model of PSI (Information Systems Planning). It is intended to develop the proposal of the PSI method for the Web environment.

  • The teaching-learning process will follow the following phases: a) Presentation of the syllabus of the course; b) Self-learning based on case studies, reading articles and developing exercises; c) Development of group work. Evaluation In continuous assessment: Written test: 45% (mandatory) Group work: 45% (mandatory, with mandatory defense) Participation (including small tasks): 10% In the final evaluation: written exam, with a weight of 100%.

  • In the development of this curricular unit, it is intended that students: Identify the role of the accommodation (AC) and reception (RE) areas in the organization of a hotel, as well as the different forms of organization of the AC area in different categories of hotels; Define the communication rules between the different areas under the responsibility of the AC department and between any of them and the other departments within the hotel unit; Carry out service planning within the LA department, namely in the floors and RE areas; Be able to manage the technical files associated with the AC and RE services; Control the stocks of all products included in the technical sheet of accommodation and determine the respective supply needs; Analyze and control the operating account of the accommodation department (focus on costs); Distinguish the advantages and disadvantages of service areas in Outsourcing; Know how to manage complaints.

  • The methodology applied is lecture-based for theoretical content and laboratory-based for practical application. Curriculum evaluation: Assessment test to be held on 17/12/2025, with a weight of 60% in the final grade, and a minimum mark of 8. Practical work with a weighting of 40 per cent in the final grade. Final assessment: All students who have not successfully completed the assessment will be entitled to take a final theoretical-practical exam at the assessment time set by the institution.

At the end of the course, students will be able to: Understand the process of planning and developing information systems, their contingent nature, as well as their fundamentals, motivations, problems and results. Consider the web environment and develop modelling, methods and tools for planning and developing information systems. Identify and discuss the factors that affect the successful adoption of information systems and technologies in organisations for the web environment in e-commerce and e-business contexts.
