Active student participation is fostered through interactive challenges, games, collaborative construction of practical examples, and the use of digital resources.

  • The course unit “Critical Thinking” aims to develop skills that enable students to reflect, engage in dialogue, and debate critically. It focuses on connecting theoretical concepts to contemporary issues, especially those involving audio and video products. Students will develop the ability to recognize different types of arguments, identify relevant information, and distinguish facts from opinions. They will learn to communicate consistently, express their own viewpoints, and remain open to listening to differing perspectives. This course is essential to meeting the challenges of contemporary society and the modern job market. It also brings together key elements that will support students in their future studies.

  •   Taking into account that the classes will have an active, explorative and group learning component; it will be essential to develop a continuous qualitative evaluation. The evaluation will be weighted according to the diversity of experiences provided to the students. In the end, it will be essential to obtain feedback on the added value of the experience, with the agents of this initiative, the students and the entities participating in the workshop challenges. The assessment weights will be: several projects that comprise the project at the end of the semester (70%), ability to present and defend the project (20%) and attendance (10%).

Classes combine theoretical exposition with guided practical activities, vulnerability analysis and controlled exploitation exercises, supported by tools such as Nmap, Wireshark and AI-assisted automation with Strix Pentesting. The curricular unit also promotes problem-solving challenges, collaborative work and critical reflection on incidents, fostering autonomy, experimentation and the development of essential practical skills in cybersecurity.

    Ao longo do semestre, os estudantes beneficiam de acompanhamento contínuo nas aulas práticas, com orientação individual e feedback regular sobre o progresso das atividades e dos trabalhos. São disponibilizados exemplos de comandos, guias de laboratório, boas práticas de documentação e recursos complementares através do Moodle e do GitHub. Recomenda-se a consulta de documentação oficial das ferramentas utilizadas, incluindo Nmap, Wireshark, VMware/VirtualBox e boas práticas de cibersegurança apresentadas pelo OWASP e pelo CNCS.

  • The course unit Introduction to Cybersecurity is part of the core training of the CTeSP in Cybersecurity and provides students with essential foundations in information security, digital threats and basic mechanisms for protecting systems and data. Its main scope includes the identification of vulnerabilities, types of attacks, risk analysis and recognised defence practices applied in digital environments, with an introductory and practical approach. The course unit also covers ethical principles and the legal framework of cybersecurity, including relevant standards and guidelines such as the GDPR and ISO 27001. Due to its transversal nature, this course unit forms a fundamental basis within the study programme, preparing students for more advanced technical units and for understanding the challenges of digital security.

  • The UC aims to provide students with opportunities to consolidate existing knowledge of the English language and acquire new knowledge. The manuals Business Result Pre-Intermediate and Essential Grammar in Use will serve as supporting teaching material. Theoretical-practical classes will address professional contexts and international relations, through topics related to national and international organizations/companies, multicultural environments and cultural differences. It is essential to know vocabulary and topics related to the functioning of an organization, international relations and cultural differences. In this way, the aim is to adapt the UC contents to the general scope of the study cycle, with the aim of making English a tool for the students' professional future.
