  • The classes in this course are theoretical and practical in nature. Classes are taught in a demonstrative context with real practical projects and with a strong project-based practice, complemented by guidance and mentoring of the work, with a role-play client - developer team.

  • Active Learning can be used in this course, promoting practical activities that involve students directly in the learning process, such as case studies, simulations and practical projects. Problem-based Learning (PBL) will also be applied by developing a problem-situation related to labour rights such as the human rights of tourism workers. We will also apply Collaborative Learning which promotes collaboration between students, encouraging them to work in groups to make presentations on topics related to the sociology of tourism.

  • In specific terms, it is intended that at the end of the semester students will be able to: - differentiate the main theoretical approaches of Sociology - differentiate the main theoretical approaches of the Sociology of Leisure - characterize Leisure and Tourism as phenomena and objects of study in Sociology - differentiate the main theoretical approaches to the phenomenon of tourism - explain to what extent tourism is a social construction of modern societies - specify the role of globalization and the leisure and consumer society in the social phenomenon called tourism - characterize the main social agents in the phenomenon of tourism and their respective social functions - characterize tourist profiles and behaviors (Supply and Demand). - understand the impacts of tourism and find solutions to negative impacts on tourist destinations.
