- The Critical Thinking curricular unit uses innovative methodologies that promote active and collaborative learning. Problem-based learning (PBL) puts students at the center of the process, challenging them to solve practical cases with critical thinking. Case studies and simulations allow students to apply theory to real-world scenarios, while digital tools facilitate collaboration and instant feedback. Gamification makes the process engaging, with games that encourage critical analysis. Continuous assessment is based on reflections, encouraging self-criticism and the continuous development of critical thinking skills.

- This curricular unit aims to promote, among students, the acquisition of fundamental concepts related to critical thinking (truth, validity, knowledge, reason, argument) and the ability to analyse, evaluate, and reconstruct arguments, recognising underlying patterns of thought and identifying possible fallacies. It also seeks to develop attitudes of active and engaged observation, to encourage the consideration of new ideas, and to foster reflection in a more structured, comprehensive, and in-depth manner. The unit further aims to strengthen students’ ability to communicate in an authentic and consistent way, which includes learning to express their own point of view clearly and to listen attentively to different perspectives, striving to achieve a solid and well-grounded understanding of the concepts under discussion.

- The teaching methodology consists of the presentation and discussion of topics, and whenever possible present existing technologies, through the implementation of application examples that demonstrate the concepts involved. Students are invited to develop group work, based on topics related to the curricular unit, making use of new technologies for experimentation, presentation, and discussion of results in accordance with the intended objectives.

- Characterize and challenge as advantages, problems and challenges that can affect the development of distributed systems. Use the communication and interaction mechanisms of objects and distributed services, identifying how similarities and differences are related to the programming mechanisms designed for centralized objects. Describe and know the components and services existing in the platforms (middleware) more. Analyze new emerging paradigms in the area of Distributed Systems.

- In this curricular unit, theoretical classes will be taught with detailed exposition, using audiovisual means, of the fundamental concepts, principles, and techniques of Distributed Systems, accompanied by elementary practical examples that arouse students' interest in theoretical matters and exemplify their application to real situations. Theoretical-practical classes will also be taught in which students, with the guidance of the teacher, will solve some practical application exercises, which require the combination of different theoretical concepts and promote critical thinking in the face of more complex problems. Theoretical-practical classes will also be intended to support practical work.

- This course unit has two components: theoretical and practical. Classes will start with an approach to the definitions and theoretical concepts of the subjects. These will later be applied in the practical execution of worksheets, using the techniques learned with specific software. Group work will be promoted with presentations to other class members. Curricular Assessment: In-class assignments: 10% Theoretical-practical work (Project and Report): 90% Final Assessment: Comprehensive Assessment Test (CAT) - practical in laboratory: 100%; All students who have not successfully completed the assessment may take a final theoretical-practical exam in the assessment period defined by the institution.

- The curricular unit is intended for the student to learn the fundamentals on the following subjects: media and multimedia; digitization; compression; color and color coding; digital imaging; digital image compression; digital sound; digital video. At the end of the curricular unit, the student should be able to understand and explain the fundamentals of the processes involved in the computer representation of multimedia elements such as texts, images, sound, and video, as well as develop audiovisual projects with the concepts and techniques learned. In the context of learning social skills, it is intended to strengthen the capacities and attitudes of accountability and solidarity in the realization of group work projects.
