  • This subject aims to encourage and support students in developing work through three different methodologies: 1) Theoretical-practical classes in which different image production strategies will be presented, analyzed and discussed; performing exercises; 2) Tutoring to guide students in the design and planning of their projects; individualized support for projects under development; 3) Group critiques in which students will have the opportunity to share, compare and discuss their options together with other students and teachers. During the continuous assessment period, students are supported in the conceptual and practical development of practical exercises and a subsequent digital portfolio. Continuous assessment (75% mandatory): Attendance, participation in classes = 20% Practical exercises = 70% (total) Final Subject Portfolio = 10% Exam: Theoretical work = 20% Practical exercises for the semester = 70% Final Subject Portfolio = 10%

  • It is intended that students develop individual skills in order to be able to conceive, plan and execute works in the illustration area, using photography or strategies derived from the photographic universe. To this end, they should be familiar with the photography practice and its plastic possibilities, being introduced to a range of different approaches to illustration developed by different artists and photographers, seeking to understand what is behind the images produced.
  • Description of contents The photographic image - concepts and phases from capture to reproduction: Optical machines and their applications in drawing. Historical examples. Analog capture - film and paper capture + analog laboratory - light and chemical interference. Historical examples. Digital capture - digital capture potential (camera and scanner) + use of digital image processors. The printed image - plastic material; printing, cutting and pasting. Examples.   Studio photography Learning the basics of cameras, lighting, reflectors, movement, indoor and outdoor photography, and photo editing. Development of illustrations through photography as a response to challenges.

  • Clinical Biochemistry will focus on the relationship between biochemical processes at the cellular level and the physiological processes that occur in the human body, focusing on examples of altered biochemical processes in human disease. In this sense, the student will have an integrated view of the various metabolic pathways and their regulation, with greater emphasis on clinical correlations, which describe biochemical states in disease states (with detail at the biochemical and genetic level), learning that biochemical parameters should be analyzed and monitored. This unit will have an important practical component where the student will use methodologies and analyze parameters used in a clinical laboratory in order to develop the critical spirit and the coherent form of presentation of results, which is fundamental in any professional area.

  • Presentation of exercises with demonstration of examples and methodologies; critical analysis at the end of classes on all the work carried out. Mostly, the exercises are based on observational drawing of three-dimensional models (natural elements, still life, objects, spaces and body). All techniques presented precede the exercise with a theoretical presentation and visual references, where the objectives to be achieved are explained. In a specific exercise, photography and memory will be used. Overall, the proposed contents and works promote experimentation and reflection on drawing and graphic expression. Guidance is continuous and individualized. The tutorial relationship is privileged. At the end of the class, students are always invited to observe their classmates' work. Assessment moments are carried out through an exhibition of the work carried out.

  • This UC aims to:  - The identification, recognition and application of basic drawing terminologies, tools and methods, in a relevant and appropriate way; - The development of drawing as an instrument of thought and the improvement of perceptual and visual acuity; - The understanding of drawing as a mechanical relationship between perception (look) and representation (hand); - The identification of the concept of spatial perception and its representation. Notions of size (scale and proportion), distance (breadth and depth), mapping and measurement, full and empty, line and spot; - The identification and distinction between drawing strategies: sketch, sketch, study, project, finished and ilustrative; - To explore graphic instruments and materials and their behavior on different supports;  - To develop autonomous work skills.
  • Introduction to drawing as an autonomous art practice throughout observation registers; exploration of tools, media and supports, learning process and methods proper to a authors’ drawing project; using manual techniques:  - Exercises to release of constraints  (gesture and graphic fluency); - Direct observation design; - Mastery of grafic instruments and drawing techniques (dry, wet and errors); - To explore materials,  instruments and less harmful supports; - Diagrammatic Exercises;  - Exercises to explore graphic languages with different materials;  - Exercises to explore volumetric representation on a bi-dimensional level;  - Linear perspective and shadows (proper and projected);  - Noc¿a¿o e aplicac¿a¿o adequada de escala, enquadramento e composic¿a¿o; - Personal Project: graphic diary (2 drawings per week).

    - 10%. Avaliação contínua: pontualidade, participação e assiduidade (75%) cujo incumprimento obriga ao exame. contínua, assente no acompanhamento do trabalho nas aulas;
    - 80% Avaliação periódica (2 momentos: 30% 1ª avaliação periódica; 50% 2ª avaliação periódica);

    10% Diário gráfico: exploração autoral do desenho (mínimo 20 desenhos).

    Critérios avaliação periódica:
    . 10% Exercícios de libertação de constrangimentos (libertação do gesto e fluência gráfica);  15% Exercícios de exploração da linguagem gráfica (exploração de materiais riscadores e suportes de inscrição);
    . 15% Qualidades da forma (estrutura, escala e volume);
    . 15% Aspetos construtivos do desenho (proporção estrutura e direção);
    . 15% Volumetria (claro/escuro, modelação e caracterização volumétrica);
    . 10% Perspetiva linear, sombras próprias e sombras projetadas;
    . 10% Escala, Enquadramento e Composição;
    . 10% Enunciados extra-aula (2 exerci¿cios)¿.
