- In this curricular unit, the Team-based learning (TBL) methodology is used, with tasks carried out in small groups, allowing the development of the ability to analyze and apply theoretical concepts.
- Mandatory
- To know and understand the fundamental principles of conventional radiology and medical image interpretation. To know and understand the relationship between different positioning techniques in conventional radiology and the corresponding radiographic projections of the human skeleton's bones and joints, as well as specific systems and organs. To understand medical image quality criteria for the various structures examined in conventional radiology. To understand the criteria for assessing and validating images for medical diagnosis. To acquire skills in identifying normal imaging anatomy regarding the joints, organs, and major systems across different anatomical regions (axial and appendicular skeleton, thorax, and abdomen). To acquire skills in observing abnormalities associated with imaging-based diagnoses of trauma and common pathologies. To acquire tools for the critical interpretation of images and the preparation of technical reports.
- 1. Appendicular skeleton: 1.1. Bones and joints of the upper limb; 1.2. Bones and joints of the lower limb. 2. Axial skeleton: 2.1. Study of the different vertebrae and segments of the vertebral column; 2.2. Study of the pelvis and hip. 3. Skull and face. 4. Bony thorax and respiratory system. 5. Abdomen - digestive and genitourinary systems.

- The Imaging Anatomy course unit is a fundamental pillar for professionals in the fields of Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy. A core competency for professionals performing procedures in Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy is the ability to identify and describe-within the images-all elements of the human skeleton, as well as the systems contained within the thoracic cage and abdominal cavity. Students acquire in-depth knowledge regarding image quality assessment criteria that are accepted and validated in Radiology. Laboratory-based practical classes enable students to identify and describe radiological images using appropriate scientific terminology, thereby facilitating study and the consolidation of knowledge.

In practical classes, the student has prior access to the activities that will be carried out in each class session, which allows for prior reading and preparation. Class session plans are accompanied by a set of questions, to ensure individual preparation, and later discussion of procedures and results.

- Continue to address the physiological principles of treatment, through diagnosis in osteopathy and the osteopathic techniques; To acquire a broad knowledge base to be used in various fields of diagnosis and treatment in osteopathy, and then apply to units of the ongoing and future clinical practice; Being able to select and apply the most appropriate myofascial technique the resolution and / or depletion of dysfunction in the upper limb and spine; To recognize the effectiveness of myofascial techniques in intervention in diseases and musculoskeletal disorders, neurological, visceral and emotional; Being able to select and apply techniques muscle energy.
- Technical treatment of the soft tissues of the spine and upper limb Introduction, mechano-physiological principles, indications and contraindications and examples of techniques: Parallel and perpendicular traction; Myofascial release; Sorrowful Jones points and Tension/ against tension techniques; Trigger Points. A classificação final (CF) da unidade curricular por avaliação contínua é obtida a partir das classificações adquiridas na componente escrita (T) e na componente prática (PL). A componente Teórica consta de duas frequências escritas e é relativa aos conteúdos teóricos. A classificação mínima em cada frequência é de 9,5 valores. A componente prática consta de dois momentos de avaliação práticos realizados durante as aulas laboratoriais. A classificação mínima de cada momento é de 9,5 valores. A classificação final é calculada a partir da seguinte fórmula: CF = 0,50 T + 0,50 PL. A classificação de todos os instrumentos de avaliação é expressa numa escala de 0 a 20 valores, sendo que o valor ponderado das classificações obtidas tem de ser igual ou superior a 9,5 valores.

- Myofascial techniques II are varied techniques that apply with certain pressure in various parts of the body, with the function of helping in the treatment of dysfunctions, relaxation and stretching in order to release the skeletal muscle system. This UC is intended for the continuation of teaching both theoretically and/or practically of manual techniques for the intervention of myofascial therapy, in clinical context, while allowing new knowledge to deepen for the different manual techniques, in order to make their intervention more effective and adapted to the various circumstances and situations.
