- Information and communication are two of the most important strategic areas for business success. Currently almost any medium to large-sized company in areas from banks and insurance companies to entertainment and health has an IT department where network and data communication professionals have a fundamental role. This course aims at providing the basic concepts related to data communication networks, with a special focus on the practical aspects related to their use in problem solving. The course is the first approach the students have to the subject of data communication and computer networks, and will be complemented in a following course. This way, it will approach the introductory topics in these two areas, and afterwards the subjects related to the technological and physical aspects of the most common local area networks.
