Establishing a competitive advantage through operations requires an understanding of how operations and supply chain functions contribute to productivity growth.   • Learning Objectives (LO) (knowledge, skills, and competencies to be developed by students): LO1 – Understand the objectives and fundamental concepts of operations management and supply chain management as value creators for stakeholders. LO2 – Understand the organisational structures of companies, categorised by market type. LO3 – Understand the demands placed on operations and supply chain managers. LO4 – Grasp the integration and alignment between a company's operational and strategic decisions. LO5 – Recognise the need for a holistic perspective in operations and supply chain management. LO6 – Identify and analyse aspects related to logistics. LO7 – Familiarise with and analyse case studies.

  • The course is organised using a flipped classroom approach, where students read in advance the textbook chapter corresponding to the upcoming lesson. This allows classroom time to be utilised for interactive and applied activities. At the start of each class, students undertake a brief test that assesses their prior understanding of the content, providing immediate feedback and identifying areas that require reinforcement. Additionally, some chapters are presented by groups of students, promoting collaborative learning and the development of communication and teamwork skills.
