This course has filled a gap in university teaching in the Algarve. The problems of water and urban planning in the Algarve are of concern to jurists who seek to help solve the problems of their land.
It is in the degree programme that students acquire a greater legal awareness and begin to study the courses that will enable them to work in these two very specific areas of knowledge.

1 . Constitutional environmental law.
2 . Characteristics of environmental law.
3 . Fundamental principles.
4 . Nature, water, air and soil protection and the fight against noise.
5 . The landscape.
6 . Administrative offences and crimes.
7 . The human right to water. Pollution.
8 . Environmental jurisprudence in Portuguese courts.
9 . Main applicable legal regimes.
This course will enable students to acquire in-depth knowledge of urban planning and environmental law, equipping them with the tools they need to discuss the concepts and theories taught and to apply the various institutes on the programme in practice.
Mandatory
Oral presentation of the subject; presentation and resolution of practical cases on each of the institutes included in the programme. Continuous assessment: a) a written test and a written assignment on a topic proposed by the student and approved by the teacher responsible for the course (50%); b) oral questions to students on the subject; resolution by students of practical cases presented in lectures and practical classes (50%).
