  • The UC will allow students, at the end of the semester, to explain the importance of information technologies in the Tourism and Hospitality sector. They will know the different technologies available and will know how to select those that best meet the needs of each case.

Information Technologies (IT) in the information and knowledge society - Perspectives on the impact of IT - Changing organizational structures and habits - The importance of information - IT is performing functions previously carried out by human beings 2. IT infrastructures - Hardware infrastructure components - Software platforms - Mobile platforms I- nternet and computer networks 3. Social, ethical and legal aspects of IT 4. Emerging and disruptive technologies 5. Tools to support work in the context of the degree.
  • At the end of the course unit the learner is expected to be able to: Explain the influence of information technologies on society, organizations, communities and individuals Know the different types of equipment and how to select them according to needs Describe the trends and prospects for the evolution of information technologies in the context of the degree Analyze the advantages of using different information technologies in the context of the degree Know the applications of information technologies in problem solving Understand the social, ethical and legal aspects of using IT in different contexts Use the tools to support the work to be carried out in the context of the degree.

  • The expository-active method is used to teach the contents, complemented with video viewing andanalysis and discussion of articles and case studies. Some classes will be reserved for presentations of companies aiming at the topics taught and solutions and IT applications used in the market. In practical classes, a teaching- learning methodology is used, based on two pillars: a) training with common practical exercises. b) application to own works. The evaluation will be continuous and composed of several evaluation instruments. All the evaluation elements realized in computer support will have to be delivered to the teacher through the tool Moodle. The instruments will be: Performing group work in class (25%); Individual performance of final written test (25%); Attendance and attendance (20%); Realization of group work (10%); Individual evaluation of group work presentation (20%).
